Newborn photoshoot in Manchester? Please don’t wait. Your baby won’t.
Natural Newborn Baby Photography near Manchester
True story. A couple of months back I was in a restaurant near my home. I bumped into a Manchester couple I’d had the pleasure of doing a family photoshoot with not long before. So I asked where the baby was and they pointed to her, sat in a high chair at a table nearby, babbling to her doting grandparents.
You know I swear I’d done their newborn baby photoshoot at most a few months earlier. But there she was, definitely not a newborn – and not even really a baby – anymore.
The moral of the story? Newborns are only really newborn for about three weeks. And babies? When you’re doing the middle of the night feeds and sleepless nights, it feels like they’ll be babies forever. And then, all of a sudden, they’re not.
So if you’ve thought about booking a Manchester newborn photographer but just haven’t got around to it yet, the clock really is ticking.
I’d love to help with that, so get in touch.
Newborn photography Manchester – the natural way
“What sort of family photographer are you?” I get asked that quite a lot. I answer in two ways.
First, I tell them my style is natural. Choose me for your baby photoshoot near Manchester and what I’ll be looking for in every shot is simplicity, purity, honesty. In years to come, I want you to look at the results of your time with me and think, ‘She really ‘got’ us. She really captured the feel of who we are as a family.’
So how do we achieve that? Well, some family photographers in Manchester go big, bold and bright with lots of props and staged shots. I prefer a natural setting with warm, natural, gentle tones that are gently lit because they help calm babies, and that results in photos that exude calm too.
The second thing I do is show them my portfolio, so you can see exactly what I mean.
How does this work? Arranging your baby photography in Manchester
It’s really simple. Once you’ve had your 20-week scan, as soon as you decide you’d like a newborn photoshoot, just get in touch and we’ll put a provisional date in the diary.
Babies tend not to arrive on time, though, so once baby is here, get back in touch with me to confirm or change the date. I make sure there’s always a little wiggle room in the diary for exactly this reason.
Ideally, for a newborn baby photoshoot, aim to hold the shoot within two weeks – and definitely no more than three weeks – from birth, so we capture all that crumply, squishy loveliness.
Oh, and if you’re reading this and heading towards your 30th week, you might like to know that’s the perfect timing for a maternity photoshoot in Manchester. Just saying.
What happens at a newborn baby photoshoot in Manchester?
Your studio session will usually take an hour or two. It will be cosy and warm, and you’ll hear some soothing white noise to add to the ambience. I work with you. No awkward, unnatural poses for you or baby. Nothing that feels anything other than completely natural and comfortable.
If baby chooses to sleep the whole way through, that’s fine. And if they’re a bit restless, well that’s fine too. There’s always time for a feed or nappy change if need be. And after more than a decade as a newborn photographer in Manchester, I’ve got more than a few tricks up my sleeve to help us get the gorgeous results we’re after.
Oh, I am also going to let you in on a secret. I use a baby shusher in my studio and every single client leaves my studio wanting one. So, here is the link to it!
